Light is everywhere
There is One Ultimate Light throughout the whole universe. This has transformative properties and also creative properties. Matter comes from this One Light. Galaxies come from this One Light. Intelligent Life comes from this One Light. All form comes from this Light. But let us understand further. All power comes from this Light. All creativity comes from this Light. All intelligence comes from this Light. This One Light is everywhere, because everything came from it. Every thing, every life, every form is from the Light and is a being of the Light. Every life has the Light also within, because this Light is its most inner essence. Thus, the One Light is within every being. There is an Inner Sun in every being. And this Inner Light is seeking to shine forth through the form, through the being, and through each expression. This is the spiritual Purpose of all existence.
The One Light is sometimes experienced as a glow shining through people and other living things. It is even glowing though mountains and other earth features. So the One Light is glowing from the sky above, from the earth below, and from those around us. But all of this is dependent on two sides of experience, the subjective and the objective. It is dependent on the person perceiving and also dependent on who or what is perceived. Someone might be glowing with the Light, but certain people will not perceive this if they lack the needed perceptive ability. And people will not acquire this needed perceptive ability, if they do not practice meditation and have a receptive spiritual attitude. So first, we need to be able to see the One Light. However, this perception also depends on who or what is perceived, because some people are actually glowing with the Light, but others are not. The spiritually awakened person, with an adept ability to perceive the Light, will perceive the Light in everyone and everywhere, to some degree. But the degree to which they perceive this Light depends on how much of the Light is actually glowing forth.
The Light is translucently glowing forth a lot through some people, while it is opaque in others. Why? Because various lower level thoughts and emotions obscure the inner emergent One Light. These obscurations are like clouds filling up a person’s aura, such that the One Light of the Inner Sun cannot shine through. So what can one do about this? Spiritual teachers and healers can help a clouded person to some extent, but not very much, because that person has to deal with their own obscurating clouds. Each has to take responsibility for clearing their particular clouds of lower thoughts, emotions, and attitudes.
The first step would be to recognize one’s own Inner Light, or the Inner Sun. Oh there it is! The next step would be to notice what is obscuring the Inner Light from shining through. Like what is stopping my Inner Light from shining through my mind, my feelings, and my body? Or what is obscuring the Light? Or what is clouding up my energy or my aura? The next step would be to drop whatever the problem is; whether it be a mood or upsetness or just a negative attitude about oneself or about life.
Well, there are many possible kinds of clouds; but the bottom line solution is to simply drop it, whatever it is. Let it go. Or at least, cease to give it more energy and attention than it already has gotten. If we stop holding on to this stuff, and stop propping it up on a pedestal of importance, then it eventually goes away due to a lack of attention and energy. What we need to remember is how really important is the Inner Light within us and its need to shine through, without a lot of cloudy or smoggy stuff obscuring it.
Light revealed through us
When mind and heart are pure, transparent, and empty of all but sincerity, then the Light spontaneously shines through. This is the Light of revelation, because the Light reveals both the purity of Consciousness and the qualities of our Real Being. Both come forth to be revealed through the pure transparency of our heart/mind. Light in its essential purity is pure consciousness. Some think this is one’s own essential consciousness, known as our soul-consciousness or as atman. Others think this is the One Universal Consciousness. Both are correct, because both soul light and Universal Light are enfolded in one another. Soul light is essentially Universal Light, but in a somewhat limited portion. Yet even a limited portion of light is nonetheless light, … and light is light. Universal Light can only be known in a place. Light is only known in places. So each knowingness of light is in a place, or has a location. The location or locality of this knowingness, in our own case, is right here through the medium of our individual heart/mind. Our heart/mind is like a sheet of paper for the Light to shine upon. And when the Light touches upon this sheet of paper, it is known. So there has to a medium or a receptive place for the Light to be known. Also, if the paper is pure and uncoated with pre-existing thought sketchings or emotional coloring, then the Light can be known in its purest essence, without preconditioning of our heart/mind.
Furthermore, let us understand that the Pure Light has its own beautiful spectrum of colors carried within its Essence. These are the Qualities of Light. They sub-exist as Potentials within the Pure Light (Light Essence). Imagine a normal ray of light. If you let it move through a crystal prism, the light breaks into a spectrum of colors. The differentiates into colors. Are the colors a separate kind of existence from the light they emerged from? No. Are these colors and light different things? Yes and no. They are different ways of seeing light. They are different ways that light is revealed; one being a pure essence and the other way being a plurality of qualities. But the qualities come out of the essence.
The Light reveals Itself though us, either as It is in Pure Consciousness or as It is in its Qualities – the Qualities of Being (or the essential qualities of our own being, our own soul). This is the revelation of Light.
In esoteric Islam, the revelation of Truth given to Muhammad by Allah is exemplary of the revelation given to anyone who is sincerely pure in heart and mind, and is in the moment openly receptive to Allah, Spirit, God, the Spiritual Light. These basic attitudes are necessary: sincerity, purity, openness, and receptivity. So Muhammad received the first revelation of the Quran on, what is called, the Night of Power. It was the night the Power of God revealed great wisdom for the world. But esoteric Islam is not so much about what is exactly in the Quran, or even whether every sentence in the Quran is important. Rather, the inquiry is about what is possible for human beings and what is true for oneself. The Night of Power is referring to the silence and stillness of the heart (and also of course the mind). This is the meaning of the night. It also means being in the emptiness and mystery of being. Then, once one is there in this meditative cave of silence and emptiness, the mystery of the Divine can reveal Itself. The Power of revelation is then able to come through, with purity and unimpeded. Truth will come forth and be revealed. God, Allah, the Divine will come forth to be known, to be revealed. This is the Revelation. And this can happen at any moment in time, at any moment in one’s life. It could even become an ongoing, continuous river of revelation. God is being revealed through this self, through this medium of heart-mind, the knowing conscious heart.

Consciousness Itself
The essence of the physical objective universe is Light. But there is also a subjective aspect to the universe, which is Consciousness. Light and Consciousness are two sides of the same Reality. One is objective and perceived in experience. The other aspect is subjective and is not perceived – rather it is the perceiving! Light is the perceived and Consciousness is the perceiving. Consciousness in the mirror of mind is perceived as light. This is the final, irreducible essence of Reality, this essence of Light and Consciousness. Consciousness by itself just IS. So the Final Essence is Consciousness, and Light is its reflection to Itself. Final Realization is just Consciousness, which is the Final Essence of God – or better said, Consciousness IS God. Final Realization comes about when one finally surrenders all self, all form, all contents of belief and knowledge, surrendering all that is in the mind; until there is nothing but Consciousness, nothing but this Final Essence of Reality.
Being Consciousness Itself is not different or differentiated from the contents of experience. It’s not really above nor beyond form and things. Rather, it is pervasive in all experiences. So in being Consciousness Itself there is still form and diversity in experience. There is still movement and change and struggles, and all varieties of experience. But there is no fixed identification in any single form or state, and no attachment. Consciousness Itself simply moves through all forms of experience. It pervades through, and does not become contracted by anything. It lives through all things with expansive spaciousness, with non-attachment and non-identification. So Consciousness itself still knows what is going on and is quite aware of all that is in form and the changes occurring; It doesn’t bliss out from everything, nor does It retreat from anything. It’s in movement with all movement. It’s in the flow of all flow. And inclusive of all form, all diversity, and all change.
Re-identify with Consciousness Itself. Then, once here, all identification whatsoever will finally disappear. So matter what arises in experience, I am just the consciousness involved. I’m not the content or form of experience, nor am I a self to focus upon. I’m essentially the Consciousness Itself pervading this everchanging experience of life.
No matter what arises or does not arise, there is only Consciousness Itself.
….
Moreover, consciousness itself as here, pervading this individual experience is the SAME as Consciousness Itself (God, Braham) .

God can be experienced as Light
-- or as a Conscious Presence surrounding us and through us. God is the larger Consciousness around us and through us; much larger. God is the unlimited Consciousness/Presence all around and through us. So we can wake up to this. Yet as well, there is more to God than this. If we experience this Presence and learn what it is, we find that the Divine Presence also carries the attribute of love. The Presence has love in it and carries love through it. These are the powers of Light and Love, as attributes of the God-Presence.
Light awakens mind. Light is the essential consciousness of mind. Without Divine Light there would be no knowing at all; we would be in a darkness of ignorance, even about the simplest things in life. But we take this Light for granted; we take the power of consciousness for granted. Yet every human being has some of this Divine Consciousness; otherwise they could not even be functional human beings. Probably every human being has at least some of the Divine Love; otherwise they could not functionally relate in a feeling way with anyone. For love is the essence of empathy and feelings for others; though this love often gets distorted into negative emotions, such as jealousy, anger, and pride. Love essentially brings us closer with each other. So we can know God or experience God as Consciousness/Light or as Love. Contemplate on the wonderful simplicity to this. This is God, or it might be better said that these are essential Qualities of God. Peace would be another way of knowing God, if we can discover a deep peace within. The will-to-good is another great Quality of God, so this too is a way to know God.

Know that you are part of God, a portion of God. Know that you are of the One Light. Know that you are a portion of the One Light. Know that you are a son or daughter of God.

Another model related to our study is the polarity between Spirit and Matter. Spirit is the inner consciousness of Matter, and Matter is the outer embodiment of Spirit. One without the other is like a man without a woman. And love is involved here, because Spirit and Matter are actually in love. They are actually in a greater Reality of Love. They are actually the two polar sides of Being, Reality, Existence. Spirit is the inner, the hidden, the subjective, the consciousness. Matter is the outer, the manifest, the objective, the embodiment. These have an essential and necessary relationship, and each are equal in value. Yet so many people have taken sides throughout history, religion and philosophy; they have taken sides about which one is better and more supreme than the other. On one hand, the religionists, spiritualists, and mentalists have placed supreme importance on Spirit while degrading the value of Matter. On the other hand, materialists, physical scientists, and existential atheists have placed supreme importance on Matter while denying the existence of Spirit. Each of these positions are radically wrong and prejudice in respect to the other. Spirit and Matter have equal significance and are necessary related. Certain ancient beliefs knew this; they believed in a Great Father Spirit and a Great Mother Matter. These are the two sources of ourselves, Father Spirit and Mother Matter, the inner consciousness and outer manifestation. Give thanks to both; worship both. Life comes from both Spirit and Matter. Without Matter, life cannot be; and without Spirit, life cannot be. Ponder on that. So we are a synthesis of Spirit and Matter. And at this point we must bring in the notion of soul, for this is what lives between Spirit and Matter. The soul reflects Spirit like the moon reflects the sun, and the soul acquires experience from living in Matter. The soul is also an intermediate between Spirit and Matter, in that the soul receives inspiration from Spirit and then manifests this through Matter. Now because of this, some have figured that Spirit is more important than Matter; but Spirit without Matter would be like an idea without a means to express it. Surely, an idea and its medium of expression are both equally important. The former would lack any means of embodiment, and the latter would lack an inspiring idea.
--------
Spirit is hidden in Matter, but Matter lacks consciousness of its Spirit. This begets the universe of duality. Matter is actually the beginning of Spirit expressing itself, yet Matter at first lacks consciousness and intelligence of this. So the two poles of Reality are related, rather than strictly opposing as some earlier theologies believed. Spirit is an inner, hidden urge in Matter to become conscious and intelligent. This is the esoteric secret. Matter is actually a womb for Spirit to emerge. There is intelligence in Matter, but it begins as latent before it gradually unfolds through Matter. As Spirit, being consciousness and intelligence, gradually emerges from Matter, this is evolution. Matter is becoming conscious and intelligent; this is the evolutionary process. And humans mark an important milestone in this process, though not all who appear as human really are at that level.
-----
The deeper that Spirit or a soul goes into matter, the deeper it can become hidden and even forget itself. Yet the deeper into matter, the more possibility for gradual spiritualization of matter. The very purpose here is to spiritualize matter, evolving matter into ever-finer beauty or intelligent form. Spiritualizing matter is also a process of spiritual intelligence and beauty emerging from the inner potentials of Matter. For remember that Spirit is hidden within Matter, and thus it is always seeking to unfold or grow out of Matter. These are not really two different process, but rather the same. The seeming difference is just due to the respective perspective. So from one perspective, Spirit is spiritualizing and refining Matter. From the other perspective, Spirit is already within Matter as its inherent Potential, and thus Spirit emerges from Matter. One can find these two perspectives in the history of spiritual metaphysics and theology, but paradoxically they are both equally valid descriptions.
