Our first premise is that that planet is alive, an intelligent organism, a whole interconnected system functioning according to certain laws and having a far-reaching purpose. This living, working, complex system maintains itself and all life with love, power and intelligence. It provides human life with the potentials to grow and evolve in an exploratory and creative way toward conscious realization of being and full expression of love and beauty.
The second premise of geomancy is that we, as human beings, are important spiritual lives on this planet and have a significant purpose. We have the innate potential to understand, not only ourselves, but all of life, and to creatively express ourselves in beautiful and loving ways. We are here to consciously enjoy life, to appreciate life, and to serve the Whole Life. Our planet can serve our needs and our creative evolution, while we live and create in harmony for the good of the planet. We and the planet, we and all the other parts of nature, have a potential to live together in harmony and in mutual benefit. It is not a case of either us or them. It is not a question of either our needs or nature's needs. Mankind and the natural world must work out a mutual harmony, whereby there is benefit for all.
We have to work out a new kind of relationship, whereby both the human and non-human systems have a mutually benefiting harmony. Human beings have the unique potential for being conscious intelligent organizers, designers, and builders; using the materials and energies of the natural world. We have the potential to take evolution in our own hands and actually guide the evolution on this planet. We have this power and we will keep on acquiring more of this power; so the big question is how to set limits on the use of our human powers because it is quite possible to over-use our creative and organizing powers, or actually mis-use our powers if we are not cautious about our arrogance or are about our possible lack of wisdom. So as part of this power we have, we also need to develop sensitivity and respect for the rest of nature.
We do not have to feel as intruders or aliens in the natural world. We do not have to feel alienated or separated from being part of the planetary life. And we do not have to feel that our creative urges and powers are feared on the planet. We are significantly important in the Great Purpose of Life. Yet, our human needs and wishes need to be balanced with the needs of other parts of the planet. We ought to be able to serve the needs of this planet and the lives living here, while also serving our own human needs. We are all part of the Great Life, and we all have important purpose in life. Man, animal, plant, and rock all have important roles to play in the creative Beauty called Life.
Spiritualization of the world could be a confusing idea, since one could rightfully say that the world is already spiritual or that “Spirit” is already pervading and abundant. This is of course absolutely correct. Yet we expand on this in geomancy and say that the world is in need of recognizing its inherent Spirit, Love or Divinity. In other words our work is to make this Spirit conscious through the recognition of and the perfecting of planetary harmony and beauty. So it is true that the world is already pervaded by Spirit and is already spiritual; yet on the outer level there is much more unfoldment of spirituality that is possible in our world, and on the inner level any real spiritual essence inherent in the world is nonetheless in need of realization. Thus, spiritualization involves both an outer process of unfolding beauty and also an inner process of realizing the spiritual essence of this world.
The spirituality of nature remains hidden until there is conscious realization or recognition of this spirituality. That is, the Truth needs to be known; the spirituality of nature needs to recognized and respected. And this recognition is a very important aspect of spiritualization. The glory of life is known to us through our recognition of Spirit manifesting in all different ways and forms. This recognition spiritualizes existence, not only for ourselves, the observer, but also for the life we observe in spiritual recognition, for all life awaits the kiss of love, recognition, appreciation and gratitude that awakens the sleeping child of Divinity. We can experience this amazing enlivening of people or nature when we finally awaken to the magnificent Divine beauty around us; thereby spiritualizing existence.
We must use our minds, hearts and creative abilities to bring forth the more hidden potentials for beauty and fulfillment, the bringing forth and development of a greater quality and maturity of beauty. This sometimes involves the clearing away of the dross or the clutter that often hides the more subtle beauty and greater Divine expression. The greater possible beauty might be cluttered with useless trash, just as our eye-glasses may be cluttered with too much dirt. Sometimes we need to clean-up an area or give it a more unifying order, so to allow the full potential of divinity to be expressed. Sometimes this work involves healing certain pains and disharmony, usually due to a previous lack of respect for harmonious relationship.
One of the great purposes of life is to love, and then learn more how to love. We hear and talk a lot about love and the need for love in our lives and in the world; yet seldom do we consider love as the ultimate meaning of all life, and seldom do we see that our love is often immature, distorted and imbalanced. We need to work at loving. We need to practice more loving and develop pure love within ourselves. We need to know what love is and learn how to love. Love is inborn in all people, yet it is first a seed that needs to grow into its own beauty and perfection.
We should not just presume love, or that we already know love, or that we can easily act with love. Fullness of love is a rare occurrence, both in experience and in deed, but a humble and yearning heart has an opening for love. Love is meant to be both received and given, experienced and shared. And without others in need of our love, there would be a lack of meaning in love.
So, love is an involvement, a meeting, a togetherness. It is a flow and reciprocity. We cannot know how to love without knowing how to receive love, and we cannot know how to receive love without knowing how to give love. We need to learn how to give and receive. We can receive ever more love from our fellow friends and from the different aspects of nature, and we have the innate ability to give ever more love back again. In order to give love , we need to understand the receiver. We need to know how it is to be a receiver and what a receiver needs. This involves respect of the unique person or life quality, and it also involves a respect for our own unique needs.
Thus, in order to truly love our planet and the wonderful nature all around us, we need to understand this planet and this nature, but not just on a physical level. We need to understand and be respectful to the non-physical aspects of nature, as well as the physical; just as anyone would want others to understand and consider more than just one's physical body. But the problem with our common understanding of nature is that we falsely think of nature as just physical. In the science of geomancy, we need to consider emotional, intelligent, and spiritual aspects of nature, besides the obvious physical. One of the principle understandings in geomancy is that nature has love in it. If we neglect to understand this, then we will tend to treat nature and natural lives as merely physical things.
At least many people are able to appreciate beauty in nature, and this is the first step. One of the purposes of geomancy is threefold: to recognize and appreciate the beauty around, to help maintain the existing beauty, and then to create new beauty.
Realize that beauty is the manifested expression of love. Thus, when we perceive beauty in a flower or in tree or anywhere on the land, the very cause of this beauty is love. Nature is sharing its inner love with us through its manifested beauty. Nature is smiling its love our way, by way of the beauty we see. Nature is giving us love through its manifested beauty. She is like a woman who knows that our soul needs to see beauty, even desperately needs to see beauty, and so with love she gives us beauty.
In a general sense, all life is beautiful, which means all life is a giving love, because beauty is the given gift of love. All life comes out of love and is an expression of love to some degree. Yet not all life is equal in its purity and quality of love; therefore, there are different degrees of beauty. So our purpose and work in this life is to purify and perfect the love and beauty all around us on this planet. Although nature and other people are already beautiful, in essence, we have the opportunity in our lifetime to help this world become evermore beautiful, lovely, and more full of love.
Two great landmarks of love are appreciation and gratitude. These are main organs of love, along with care and giving. Appreciation goes with gratitude, and gratitude goes with appreciation. Everyone knows how wonderful and fulfilling it is to be appreciated, and how loved we feel when another person is sincerely thankful for our contribution, our giving, or even just for our being here. Likewise, all life, and even the whole living planet needs to be sincerely appreciated for who it is and what it gives. When we sincerely appreciate the nature or land around us, we are giving a very special love back to nature and to the land. Thus, appreciation is a major principle of geomancy.
Our relationship with the Whole, as human beings is unique and plays a very special role. We attempt to fit into this vast physical eco-system like any other life form, though our possibilities of harming it are much greater. With the development of our understanding and powers, we need to assume a conscious responsibility to take from and give to the rest of life in a way that is sustainable long-term and beneficial to our own growth as well as others. With increasing knowledge and power over the other relations of life, we must also take on an increasing responsibility to work and create in an harmoniously way with our environment, and intelligently manage our affairs and our use of this environment. We must be aware of our obligation for reciprocity in this interconnected world and for the future sustainability and creativity on the planet.
Our relationship with life around us is also unique because we are consciously awakening to ourselves and our inner purpose of being alive as human beings. Our own understanding of ourselves involves all of life, since within us is all life, all energies, and all qualities. The living environment around us reveals parts of ourself, as we respect, understand and appreciate it. We grow by way of the natural and transformed impressions of our environment. We know ourselves better through these impressions. Therefore we should help maintain and create the most beautiful, healing impressions. The relationships surrounding us effect our psyche world , as well as our physical body.
This world is a mirror of our true self. We also develop qualities within that can only come forth through our devoted service and giving to others and the planet as a whole. The awareness and benevolent action of our responsibility, or even our intention to be responsible human beings, is a great key to our growing maturity and completion of who we really are. The great potentials dormant within will only be revealed through a need or desire to serve the rest of life. We discover ourselves through love and service and the appreciation of this beautifully interconnected Whole.
Geomancy is not just about the physical side of things; a main part of geomancy has to do with the psychological and spiritual dimensions of man and nature. Psychologically, we can come back to our natural sense of being interconnected with the Whole. Spiritually, we can come into a spiritual union with nature. These are psychological and spiritual awakenings, which changes how we live and do things in the physical world. So in geomancy, we also study the psychological and spiritual aspects of ourselves and of life on Earth, and how these interrelate.
Through our love of nature, we can fully experience love as our essence. Then we transform ourselves through our work for the planet. Nature and the creative environment become our teacher to help us to realize our self. The means for this transformation are contemplation and communion with the beauty of our surroundings.
We develop our senses fully and acquire a subtle feeling-knowingness of the beingness and relationships around us. Our mind and heart become quiet yet involved with the focus of contemplation. We allow the feelings and impressions of our study to come alive within us and be the reflection of our being. Eventually in our contemplation, there is no separation between ourselves and what we observe or sense. We feel the surrounding beauty within and as one with our self. We take in the beauty and intelligence of all that is here for us, becoming complete with it, and feeling what is previously out there to be within, alive, and meaningful. It is a conscious communion, an assimilation of our common body, our common divinity. The world is seen to be various expressions of the one great Beingness, the Source, the Creator. Each impression and contemplative experience is a quality or aspect of the One Being and ourself. The One divides into the many unique expressions of Itself, and we recognize these unique qualities as hidden aspects of ourself. We communicate with nature in the knowledge of this divine relationship and our common related unity.
Nature is the manifestation of the Divine Truth, and reveals the laws of life and the knowledge of who we really are in essence. Humans are of course a part of nature. We are as natural as birds and flowers. It is only an illusion that we experience a separation from the natural world. This is because of our cultural education (or indoctrination) and a sort of neurotic ego sense that we could live just fine in our own artificially made environments. We are given the power of imagination, and this often turns into a tendency to be comfortable in our own specially created illusions.
These illusions ultimately gain power over us, because of a gnawing fear of death and the fear that we are not really loved, that we are dis-connected from The Creator, Who is Love, and thus fearfully shivering in our lonely separation from the whole of creation. One does not need to live in these fears, these illusions. Yet many of us seem to be plagued with the fear of separation and the stupidity to accept this neurosis. Some people even go around teaching these illusions to others. Yet we are natural, we are loved and connected, we have the organic intelligence of life within us, and we also have special abilities and a purpose that is unique on this planet.
Geomancy recognizes our natural connection with all life and our dependency on the natural environment, both physically and psychically. Yet it also recognizes our unique place in the scheme of things, our spiritual purpose and our responsibilities for the future. Life on earth is slowly evolving toward greater harmony-in-diversity, intelligence and cooperation. Yet without man and woman there is no real purpose to this evolving planetary eco-system. We are the ultimate necessity and goal of the planet. If sounds ego-centric, then consider the purpose of beauty in the flowers, the trees, the mountains, the shorelines, the birds and animals without anyone to consciously appreciate or enjoy these wonders. We are special in nature, but we are not separate from nature.
All of the natural world around us is inherently within us. We are potentially the synthesis of all life, glorifying this beingness in our manifestations and creations, and enjoying all the reflections of our own essential truth and beauty. Man and woman are like the fruit of an orchard. We are the purpose of the whole process, not to deny the significance of all parts of the life-tree and the process itself. We come from and out of this environment, to eventually reach our own full potential, which is the purpose in the first place. At least it is certainly our purpose, for we should not deny our own special significance, since why else would you be here if you were not potentially of utmost importance? Human beings are unique in that we contemplate upon significance, purpose and value; so what is more valuable than yourself who is the source of the question itself?
Wasting our own human potential is as stupid as wasting our natural environment. We have the potential to be evermore conscious, evermore loving and evermore creative, so how can we waste even a day in our life? This very day, this very moment we have the given opportunity to wake up to ourself and our purpose in being born. Why even step out into the world without an intention to be awake to it, to experience life fully?
We are given the opportunity to be a part of conscious evolution, not just drifting with organic evolution. Conscious evolution is both an evolution of manifestation and an evolution of consciousness. It involves intentional work for the betterment of humanity and the planet, and the work of developing and unifying our consciousness of life and Being.
The evolution of consciousness is to make real for ourself the experience of life and Being in it. The conscious evolution of this world is to help and allow the perfection inherent in the world of possibility to be fully manifested all over the planet and release the love and beauty within all beings.
Creating True Value
What an awakening it would be to finally realize that this is our home and there isn’t any other place to be. Sure, it is a struggle at times, and some of us here are really being put through the grind with hunger and war; but still, this is it, and we have to do the best we can, for ourselves and for others. Who has mostly caused the pains in this world? Nature? God? No, it is we the people.
Many people don’t really want to mess up the ecology and the beauty of the planet, but greed and ignorance have gained a lot of power in this world. No matter, we have to admit that we’re all in this together, and we all allow it to carry on at some level. But instead of being so negative about it all, or trapped in a cocoon of helplessness, let us proceed with some positive idealism, look at what can be done to help, and empower ourselves with the great potentials inherent within. Life ultimately begins each moment with us, and we can work together in conscious evolution and co-creation of the future. The world we choose will subsequently be the world we get.
We create value, and we judge what is valuable. The determination of what is valuable is of course somewhat subjective, and dependent upon the unique individual’s desires and needs in their unique circumstances. We each have our own little world around us, and see life through this world view. The unique relationships and environmental surroundings of our own experienced day to day life influences our “world” view and beliefs and choices we make. So value, as well as beauty, is somewhat in the eyes of the beholder. Yet, there is a common ground on earth, because there are similar experiences shared by way of being human within a similar phenomena, such as life on earth. We are essentially made of the same stuff and exist within the same fundamental laws of life. So we can find this common ground underneath each of us, and value the essential truths of our existence. There are very common values of truth, goodness and beauty within every being, just as there are common natural principles and laws governing our life. These essential values can be known by anyone. They always subsist within the matrix of the planet, and can be recognized, in some degree, in the manifestations here on this planet. We have an inner sense for real value, and this sense evolves as we experience it more in our lives and in our environment. The more we question what is truly valuable and work at creating it, the more we understand what to do. Our questions need to go beyond ourselves, to question what is valuable for the greater Whole, the larger social community and the natural environment. This will develop a greater sense of value and expanded conscience within us.
There is a sense in us to seek an ideal of perfection, the highest value possible. This is partly what makes human beings unique; we naturally have inner visions of greater perfection or greater beauty. These inner visions motivate us to work towards greater values, harmony and beauty. Yet seldom do we actually achieve or even experience our highest visions, because reality seems to fall short of the vision. But this is alright. It is something we have to accept; that reality will seldom become as we would most want it to be, or as our vision can see how how it could be. So we need to also have acceptance and also tolerance.
Moreover, life can never be absolutely and completely perfect, because there is always greater perfection to evolve and to be known. We could see life in process as perfect, or as being the best it can be for now, but we must remember in this that ignorance can hold the process back, mistakes can be made, and we need to take action in many areas of life to change what is far from perfection.
But sometimes we recognize certain places on the planet that are “just perfect” the way they are, so hopefully leave them alone. Yet, many other areas need some help, some changes made, and some places offer possibilities of adding our own creativity to them. These areas are either seeking or inviting our help and creativity. The question of where and what to leave be vs. where and what to do something of new value, is an ongoing relevant question, and not an easy one to answer. There are no easy rules for this. Ultimately, the question of letting things be vs. changing them is new and different at each different place and circumstance, and will have to be sensed and decided by one or more human beings. It is one of the most significant questions in geomancy, as well as in all aspects of our human experience.
Just because we have the power to change or create all sorts of things, does not necessarily mean that it is morally right to do so. Our powers of creativity can be very harmful to the environment and to others, as well as possibly being very helpful. We need to always question our motives and actions as to what is right, in light of our deepest conscience and knowledge. We need to have some sense of what is valuable to ourselves and the environment, and a purified motive to do what is right and good for all concerned. We need to consider, to the best of our abilities, the interrelated, extending effects of any action, and the possible hazards involved. Our powers and our choices involve a great responsibility. There is always the potential for hazard and mistakes, even when our motives are good, and we can easily be fooled due to zealousness mixed with lack of knowledge. Yet, the potentials for great good and creative evolution is inherent within our powers and choices, and it is our Divine gift to be able to explore and use these human creative powers.
We need to recognize, respect and accept what is already perfect, what should be allowed to be just as it is, in its own way. And, we need to recognize what can be helped and further evolved by our actions, or what invites us to add our own unique creativity to. We so often only think about our selves, our own desires and wishes, without considering the rights of others and of the land. We see some area that is especially beautiful or sacred, and we want it for ourselves, or want to make money off of it, so we build a house or something there and try to take possession of it. Our possessiveness and greed fools us, and subsequently we ruin the very place that attracted us with its beauty and healing qualities. Respect and understanding is all so important. Learning how to recognize and allow sacredness to be in its own way is essential for our own growth, our children’s children and the future of the planet. Learning how to work within the perfection, in harmony and love, and learning how to be conscious, conscientious co-creators with the natural perfection, is of essential importance. Respect for, and cooperation with nature and its subtle sacred energies is actually an obligation in reciprocity to the planet for being born.
Humility
Our work is to serve and help create a beneficial future for our children’s children as well as all life on the planet. We are the designers of the future. In a sense, we are the God, The Creator; yet we live and are dependent within a greater Creator and Divine Work. We must realize our ultimate dependency within the Whole; yet we are in potential the Whole, if we accept the Whole and take on responsibility for this. Never forget our dependency and interdependency; yet our purpose is to create our life, to be responsible for this. Just as we would be foolish to try to change the vast intelligence of our body, we would be foolish to try to change the vast intelligence of this huge eco-system. We need to respect this complex web of relationships of the planet, and be grateful for the set-up we’ve been given. Hopefully we will leave well enough alone and help maintain the various life-forms and processes that keep us alive and growing, and that have a right to live with us. We can serve our own unique needs, as well as the needs of other life forms, and help create a beneficial future for the whole planet. Our purpose on Earth will become evermore apparent, and we cannot deny our destiny as human beings. We only need to recognize ourselves as the creative power and judge, and accept the responsibility of being a human being. We are given choices and have to accept this, but let us accept this with dignity and love. The future can be very exciting, since are given a great possibility and potential for creating good and beauty on the planet, to create our visioned heaven on Earth. Yet we must be humble about our visions and realize the potential of hazards and distorted illusions.
People have the tendency to become very arrogant and fanatical about their vision of truth. This can be disastrous. If we are to make choices for good, we need to constantly question our motives and ideas. We need to constantly study or at least ask for help. We need to attune to the highest understanding and need, and not be fooled by inner guidance which is often distorted by our impurity of motive, lack of study, and other stray thoughts or ideas of “well meaning” though ignorant people. Geomancy involves a science and art of divining the right choices, which is not mere impulse or channeled guidance. We must use all of our abilities and receive intelligent help for any important decision. We use the heart , mind and communication to understand the need of the moment and of the future. This is not to imply that one should not tune into and listen to their highest intuition or conscience. Geomancy recognizes the need for using our intuitive senses and finding a source of knowledge that is beyond traditional analytical deductive methods of only gathering data to measure or equate the best action. We should not deny the intuitive guidance nor the analytical reasoning. Both methods are needed, and can learn to work hand in hand to compliment eachother. We use a process of scientific study and reasoning, along with our abilities of increasing sensitivity and feeling, and along with a pure, responsible motive and attunement to the greatest need or divine destiny.
The search for truth is a search for understanding this world we live in and our place within it. Without a working understanding of life, we float lost in a huge sea that eventually swallows us up. We need to develop an understanding of this planet, its livingness and natural laws. We also need an understanding of our fellow human beings, as well as ourself. An understanding of the world around us is the prerequisite of a life in harmony. These teachings will show the basic truths and laws of life, both visible and invisible, scientific and metaphysical.
In order to love, give to, and serve life, we need to understand it. We need to study life, the living kingdoms, the qualities of energies, and the dimensions or worlds within worlds. All life is interconnected, at least to some degree. Nothing exists solely on its own. Every form of life and flow of energy exists within a complex web of relationships. Everything needs everything else to survive and grow to completion. This interconnectiveness is sometimes visible and apparent, but sometimes it is invisible to our perceptions and scientific measurements.
In order to better live in harmony with our environmental interconnective web, we need to understand everything about it, yet there is very much to completely learn. But though a total understanding is probably impossible, we can always learn more. Any one person will probably never understand but a fraction of the Whole, but we, as a collective cooperating humanity, can pool our knowledge together and find needed help from eachother. The more we can study the eco-systems, the subtle and physical energy flows, and the living needs and relations between these, psychologically and physically, the better life will be for us and all the planet.
There are many different forms, energies and qualities within the Whole which need to be understood, described, and related to eachother. Each of these have definite ways or individual tendencies in their manifestations, and they each have specific needs or requirements to maintain themselves and grow properly. Each uses something from their environment and transforms this for their need, then gives back something to their environment, by way of what they do or what they have transformed. The great Intelligence of life somehow makes this process of reciprocal giving very economical or at least offers the opportunity to do so.
